Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What should I wear for my first lesson?

A: For safety and comfort, we require long pants (jeans or riding breeches) for every lesson to help protect your legs while riding. Shoes should be sturdy and closed-toe — sneakers are fine as long as they aren’t too bulky and fit comfortably in the stirrups. We provide helmets and vests for new riders, but you’re welcome to bring your own if it meets current safety standards. Dressing in layers is a good idea so you can adjust as you warm up or cool down.

Q: Are dogs allowed on the property?

A: For the safety of our horses, riders, and other guests, dogs are not permitted unless they are registered service animals.

Q: Can I learn about horses and take lessons without riding?

A: Absolutely! You can definitely learn a lot about horses without actually riding them. There are many fascinating aspects of horse care and management that can enrich your understanding and appreciation of these magnificent animals. We offer non-riding lessons for those who would like to learn about horses from the ground!

Q: Do I need prior riding experience to take lessons?

A: Not at all! We welcome riders of all ages and experience levels, from complete beginners to advanced competitors. Book our introductory lesson here for your very first lesson!

Q: Do I need my own horse to take lessons?

A: No — we have well-trained lesson horses available for students. However, we also teach lessons to those that bring their own horse.

Q: Can I use my own farrier or vet while boarding?

A: Yes — you’re welcome to use your preferred professionals, or we can recommend trusted local providers.

Q: What disciplines do you teach?

A: We teach English (dressage and hunter) and Western upon request.

Q: Do you allow outside horses to use your facilities?

A: Outside horses with current Coggins are welcome for certain events, clinics, and boarding arrangements. Please contact us for details.
